Interesting. Maybe the Japanese are on the island to gather up these creatures and train them fo warefare or carry artillary through the jungle.
Dingo and Leaf set them free after a battle with the troops capturing the creatures.

I'd rather run the Giants as a third faction: equally a menace to both the Japanese and the Allies. They don't care too much who they eat!
Could be a neat story that dovetails into having the Allies working with the Japanese in some fashion against this common enemy. If we set it later in the war, it would also be a good one to include an American hero working alongside one of the Imperials.
