Canada's Greatest Hero, Michael MacSorly! I really dig Michael, especially after you walked me through the 26 page origin story! Great script, and Randy did a great job on the art.

Michael is a reluctant hero. That will allow us to let him grow into the part.

Great find. He has that classic Marvel style down. The samples on his site look just like they came out of Savage Sword of Conan or Dracula Lives.

Brad Eastburn has just completed his inks and tones on his modern age Leaf tale "The Sapling".
Look for the story to appear in issue 2 of Surprising Theater #2 in mid-June.

I just sent the script for the short story I wrote starring The Modern Leaf for this issue to Mike Rickaby for inking and lettering. We're almost finished, and on schedule once again!

In response to a call for enemies to fight the modern Leaf, I came up with this guy: Scorched Earth, the first Global Warming Supervillain!
The man who would become Scorched Earth was once a research scientist, a brilliant microbiologist. His career took a turn for the eccentric when he became an absolutely rabid proponent and activist of Global Warming. Zealously convinced man-made carbon emissions were responsible for warming the planet, he applied himself to the pursuit of an alternate fuel source for modern industry. With his field in microbilogy, he decided to manipulate bacteria into becoming thermodynamic. In this way, his strain of bacteria could become a sort of living power cell.
The experiment proved disastrous. Lacking the funding needed to properly conduct his research, safety protocols were largely absent and the scientist ended up being caught in a massive explosion when his bacteria ignited. His body was saturated by billions of bacteria which largely replaced his body's cell structure. Horribly disfigured in the blast, the scientist found that he was able to project streams of the heat-producing bacteria, delivering them in blasts of energy that could melt through steel.
His mind unhinged by his experience and his disfigurement, and embittered at a world that still dared question the Global Warming science, the scientist adopted a gruesome costume and assumed the name Scorched Earth. Soon he embarked on a terrorist campaign across the developed Western Nations, determined to drive home the reality of Global Warming by the most violent means. In his attacks, he has been gathering the resources to recreate his experiment on a grand scale, but this time not to create some limitless clean energy source. No, his goal now is to speed up the processes of Global Warming and forcing the world to accept his vision. His goal is unspeakable: to melt the immense Hubbard Glacier, the largest in North America with a concentrated release of his bacteria. The rise in sea levels would then flood major coastal cities across the globe.
Ruthless and fanatical, without any regard for individual human life, Socrched Earth is that most dangerous of villains: one who thinks of himself as a hero.

This storyline is going to rock! I can picture Scorched Earth destroying EVERYTHING in his path to achieve his objective. The leaf will be hard pressed to figure out what he is after when all the evidence, objective, and surrounding area is incinerated.
Fantastic! villain, C.L. When we talked about SE, I did not think about the character on this level. Impressive, as always.
